ToP FLP Module 6: Transformational Leadership Report
September 4-5, 2007

Location: Balyana Conference Centre, Adelaide, South Australia
Trainers: Jeanette Stanfield, Joan Firkins, Brian Robins & Frank Bremner
Participants: 10, total of 14 around the table including trainers.

Précis
* This was the debut presentation of ToP Module 6: Transformational Leadership in its substantially revised format.
* Participant feedback about the Module was very positive
* Group size worked well given we were working in depth in the inter & intra-personal intelligences
* Venue and catering was excellent. Room was spacious with an abundance of natural light. Breakout areas were on an adjoining verandah overlooking a garden.
* The celebration of the completion of a 6 Module ToP Facilitative Leadership Program journey on the afternoon of Day 2 with claiming of promises for the future was well received and honoured the 6 Module and two year journey for most participants and trainers.
* On-the-job applications was an important aspect to include on Day 2.
* Overall, feedback was that Module 6 seemed “right” as the culminating Module of the Facilitative Leadership Program rather than beginning of the Transformational Leadership set (ToP Modules 4,5,6) although this is yet to be trialled.

Some of the participant feedback included:

What do you feel you have gained by attending this course?
* An extremely good overview of the journey (intra and inter-personal) of the participant and the facilitator. Useful methods for describing and assessing this journey. Four great images (of the dynamics underlying the Modules).
* A greater understanding of the dynamics of the Modules.
* Clarity in the understanding of why the method works.
* An additional segment to my experience and knowledge of facilitation. I felt we
gathered an insight into our own behaviours which I enjoyed...
* The knowledge of the life understandings - the statements are crucial in helping
me be aware of how to facilitate groups and orient the environment that will foster
and activate these dynamics within groups.
* Multitude of skills, insight and learning. You have done a great job developing up
this section of the course. It is certainly an opportunity for cross learning & sharing
stories, case studies and examples.
* A sounder understanding of dynamics at each stage of the journey.
* Hearing where other people are at in their journeys: Learning from and about
them.
* Greater understanding of the process. Networks & friends.
* An insight into how our own life experience can contribute to understand the
transformation of an experience. This Module helped me to understand more fully
the emotional turmoil that happens when there is workshop conflict.
* Greater understanding t0 enable or realise potential transformation of groups (and individuals).
